Even if you couldn’t bear to look at the end, there’s no doubt the Euros brought the country together – and there’s nothing better than capturing the big event atmosphere than out in the open air.
Helping to make the big occasion happen is Ellievision AV, a company that specialises in innovative audio-visual solutions, bringing events to life and delivering something that is truly memorable for the organisers and their guests.
The firm, which was founded in 2018 by Heather Irving and Tim Hannaby, was busy throughout the tournament, as it has been since lockdown, when outdoor gatherings were almost the only way to enjoy the company of other people. Ever since then, the team at Ellievision AV have been busy supplying large outdoor screens for a whole range of occasions, from outdoor cinema nights to the big sports events.
Crowds gathered to watch the Coronation last year on Ellievision AV’s screens, and earlier this year the Glastonbury festival was beamed into glamping sites. The August Bank Holiday weekend is already looking busy, and there’s still time for organisers to get in on the action if they want to add another dimension to their event.
And the summer weather, good or bad, isn’t necessarily a factor, as later in the year Ellievision AV will be fulfilling bookings for Halloween and Christmas cinema nights, where guests can watch from the comfort of their cars, and get into the spooky or festive mood with family and friends.
Heather and Tim, who built their careers in the corporate market, had begun by primarily focusing on awards nights and dinners, kick-off meetings, syndicate rooms, fundraising events and charity evenings. The Ellievision AV portfolio includes numerous receptions, dinners and charity balls.
But it was an early decision to choose large outdoor screens as a niche offering that proved invaluable to the fledgling company when the pandemic struck less than two years after the business was launched.
“We were fortunate in a way that we had invested in big screens just before the pandemic happened, when a lot of AV work either ground to a halt or moved online,”
said Heather.
“It had been a conscious decision to go for something that was growing in popularity for sports events, music festivals, that kind of thing. We wanted screens that were suitable for indoors and outdoors, just to give ourselves options, but it turned out to be one of the best decisions we could have made.
“We have had lots of bookings for this summer, but there’s still time to arrange something for the Bank Holiday weekend. We can turn film licences and temporary event notices round in about ten days, so we’d love to hear from anyone who wants to include a big screen in their event. And then, going into the autumn and in the run-up to Christmas, we’re always in demand for drive-in cinema nights when the Halloween and Christmas classics on the big screen make for a great night out.”
Years of experience in making an event a success is invaluable to clients and, regardless of what form the event will take, Ellievision AV’s approach is to offer as many complimentary site visits as are needed to ensure Heather, Tim and the team fully understand what the client is looking for.
It’s not just an in-depth knowledge of production technology, but also an eye for the details that ensure that no stone is left unturned and everything is just right before the event goes ahead.
“We’ve got the experience that means we can help the organisers in facilitating licences for films for a drive-in event or completing the paperwork for a temporary event notice, and we can help with risk assessments,”
said Tim.
“And, as we’ve built up the company, we’ve come to know a lot of other businesses within the sector such as catering firms and venues, that we can recommend where required.”
Ellievision AV has a showroom featuring displays of AV rigs and equipment, lighting and staging, so that clients can visit to get a clear idea of what is possible and what will work best when they are planning an event.
Tim added:
“It’s often much easier for clients if they come in and see for themselves what can be achieved, and find out about all the other touches they might need to help to make their event a success.
“We’ve been doing this for years and by getting to know the client and really working hard to get to know what they want, we can meet and, hopefully, exceed their expectations.”
