Corby-based See Limited took the prestigious Green Award at this year’s NNBN Awards, which recognise and celebrate innovative and enterprising businesses, charities and organisations within Northamptonshire.
The group holding company, responsible for three businesses involved in the supply, distribution and fabrication of wood veneer and decorative laminate panels – Inspired Surfaces, Performance Panels and Bousfields – was recognised in a night of celebration at the Mercure Hotel Northampton for its work in establishing four key initiatives to help contribute to the global effort to fight against climate change.
This includes the implementation of an Annual Carbon Footprint Report which records the CO2 impact of all three businesses in the group; the formation of an internal team which uses the findings of the Annual Carbon Report to implement initiatives to further reduce CO2 emissions year-on-year; a partnership with More Trees to plant trees for every order of Pura® NFC–weatherproof cladding for home exteriors; plus signing up to Science Based Targets to demonstrate their commitment to adopting best practice in sustainability.
Chosen from hundreds of entries to make the final five within their category, the company was up against stiff competition from the likes of Hilton Northampton and runner-up Wicksteed Park, to clinch the title at the awards ceremony in October.
“Our work is centred around creating a future where sustainability is not an option, but a standard,”
said Robert Thompson, CEO of See Limited.
“Winning this award was a huge milestone for us and was a celebration of our dedication to driving solutions that not only reduce our environmental impact but also inspire positive change.”
The NNBN Award win marked the start of awards season for See Limited, with the company also being recognised as a finalist for the Best Carbon Reduction Innovation or Practice Award in the Building Innovation Awards, which also took place in October.
Continuing in its streak of award nominations, the company has also been shortlisted as finalists for the National Building & Construction Awards, Northamptonshire Business Awards and the Northamptonshire Business Excellence Awards.
“Making it as finalists in so many awards is not just a reflection of our past achievements but also serves as motivation for the future,”
said Robert.
“With environmental concerns growing more pressing by the day, we are committed to taking sustainable steps forward that reduce carbon emissions and promote energy-efficient practices.
“Every step we take helps move the industry closer to a greener, more sustainable future.”
