Museum revved up for milestone motorsport year

Silverstone Museum is geared up to get 2025 off to a roaring start with a milestone motorsport year of exhilarating exhibitions and events planned to celebrate a commemorative year for Formula One.

The museum, located trackside at the iconic Silverstone circuit, has a host of new exciting exclusive exhibits, events and activities lined up for what will be a momentous motorsport year, a year which will celebrate the 75th anniversary of the FIA Drivers World Championship. Silverstone held the very first race of the prestigious championship on May 13, 1950.

Silverstone Museum continues to drive up visitor numbers, boosting business and tourism in the county as the award-winning attraction welcomes not only die- hard motorsport and F1 fans but families alike from far and wide. In a standout successful year, 2024 saw a record number of more than 160,000 visitors through the doors of the phenomenally popular museum.

“We are thrilled to announce that the museum will be showcasing an exciting feature exhibition in 2025, unveiling new exclusive exhibits and hosting unmissable events, as we celebrate Silverstone becoming the birthplace of the Formula 1 world championship.

“Our show-stopping exhibition this year will celebrate 75 years since the start of the F1 Driver World Championship with a line-up of incredible, iconic racing cars and memorabilia yet to be revealed.”

The museum has also introduced its new Behind the Scenes Tours, which run weekdays and showcase in much more detail the exhibition in a bespoke, exclusive experience.

The recently launched tours, which cost just £10 per person, provide the exclusive opportunity to access the museum exhibits and offer unique photo opportunities.

Visitors can experience the thrill of British motor racing history with the exclusive tour of Silverstone Museum and the opportunity to get close to the legendary race cars, bikes, and rare memorabilia that shaped the iconic Silverstone circuit.

As the popular attraction has the advantage of being located next to the world-famous Silverstone circuit, thousands of visitors to the museum can also experience some exhilarating on track action.

Throughout the year there will be numerous opportunities for museum visitors to enjoy enthralling racing as the race season at Silverstone gets under way in February with an action-packed calendar of race meetings scheduled running virtually every weekend until early November.

Silverstone circuit’s calendar of high-octane racing events means there is something for all museum visitors to see on track almost every weekend of the year.

A sensational season of racing kicks off late February with the Vintage Sports Car Club meeting alongside adrenaline-fuelled racing on track thrills to enjoy throughout the year.

Whether it is single seater racing, bike racing, classic cars, hot hatches, vintage cars or sports cars – there is virtually always some Silverstone track action to see from the museum.

The circuit will be action-packed during 2025 with a busy season of racing at Silverstone including MotoGP on May 23 to 25, F1 British Grand Prix from July 3 to 6, and the Silverstone Festival on August 22 to 24.

In the run up to, and after, these annual motorsport fixtures, there are multiple motorsport events to excite and thrill the thousands of visitors descending on the museum.

From car shows and family activities to exclusive talks and hands-on exhibits, there’s always something new to interest the crowds.
