Tuned into the local community

Stadium MK is a big and impressive building which welcomes quality sport and entertainment through its vast doors. As increasing numbers of people are finding out, it’s much more than just the home of great football.

As well as that fantastic pitch and the stunning viewing area for MK Dons fans, there’s the Marshall Arena, the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel and a host of shops, restaurants and bars in the impressive ground. And tucked away at the west side of the site is a studio and office with the name MKFM proudly fixed across the doorway.

MKFM might sound like a radio station, but it’s much more than that. The not-for-profit organisation is also a highly successful news outlet, popular social media commentator and supporter of Milton Keynes charities, community groups, local businesses and people.

On your radio you’ll hear a mix of great hits from the 1990s up to today’s modern tunes, all presented by a team of talented broadcasters who provide fun, laughter and interesting topics of the day to get you thinking and talking.

You can listen to local news bulletins, travel news, local weather reports, sport, lots of local discussion and chats with studio guests.

Away from the airwaves the work doesn’t stop for MKFM: its popular website shares an exciting blend of local news and events for businesses, charities, community groups and services, researched and written by a team of professional journalists and blogging experts.

Much of that news is transferred through to the social media channels, engaging with the local community through discussion, opinion, competitions and cross-platform promotions.

For those who need another means to catch up on MKFM’s news there’s the MKFM App, giving the station’s legion of listeners and followers the chance to catch up while on the move, receiving instant notifications, exclusive competition opportunities, greater listener enjoyment and loyalty, straight to their phones.

And businesses are not forgotten by MKFM either: the brand is well known for its lively and interesting networking events, bringing local businesses together with the common goal of helping each other to thrive in the city. It’s also a great opportunity to showcase new and exciting venues in MK.

Everything MKFM does, writes, broadcasts and organises is done with the people and businesses of Milton Keynes firmly in mind. It’s proudly in MK, for MK, and about MK.

The Meet of MK

Without Milton Keynes’ business community, MKFM would only be half the story. Loved and respected by the city’s traders, company bosses, shop owners and hospitality chiefs, MKFM regularly arranges networking events, called The Meet of MK, in exciting venues, clubs, restaurants and meeting places across Milton Keynes.

The Meet of MK initiative allows guests – who comprise business owners, charities and local dignitaries – to experience a top networking event around the city in a new and different location each time.

The Meet of MK was launched seven years ago as an alternative to some of the already well-established networking events in Milton Keynes. The event attracts many new faces, as well as regular attendees, on the last Thursday of every month, as local businesses and organisations connect in a relaxed environment.

“It’s great to have had this business networking community established since March 2017,”

said MKFM acting director Jo Ronan.

“With more than 150 attendees coming together each month to hear about local events, businesses and organisations, they can support each other through the Meet of MK.

“We have lots of new ideas for 2025 and we’ll continue to find interesting venues in which to welcome our guests to future Meet of MK evenings.”
