Generous £10,000 donation supports local school

Amazon in Daventry has handed £10,000 to Daventry Hill School

The donation comes from Amazon’s School Twinning project, a collaboration between Amazon and selected schools as part of Amazon’s Future Engineer program, which helps schools access opportunities and resources in areas such as first aid, STEM and Career Guidance.

As part of the project, Daventry Hill School will also receive exclusive access to Amazon site tours, first aid workshops, and engineering teaching from the team at the Daventry fulfilment centre.

Dylan De Beer from Amazon in Daventry said: “Working so closely with schools in our community is one of the highlights of the job at Amazon. We’re looking forward to collaborating with Daventry Hill School over the next year and seeing the students take full advantage of this project.”

Vicki Bond, from Daventry Hill School, added: “As a school we are really excited to be extending our existing partnership with Amazon as part of the Amazon School Twinning Project. Between site tours, first aid and RME teaching, our pupils will no doubt see the benefit of this grant across the term. Community is really important to us as a school both preparing our young people to be responsible citizens and giving back to others in our local and wider communities. Thank you, Amazon, for sharing our community vision and providing real life experiences for our young people.”

Community donations and employee volunteering are just two of the ways Amazon supports the communities where it operates. Amazon co-founded the Multibank initiative with former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown to support families in need. The West Midlands Multibank opened this year, with Birmingham Voluntary Service Council (BVSC). The initiative has donated more than 8 million surplus goods to over 600,000 families across Wales, Scotland, Greater Manchester, London, Tees Valley and Birmingham. This year, the Multibank will send 1 million orders to families across the UK.

Amazon has supported more than one million students across the UK with free STEM education programmes through Amazon Future Engineer and helps community organisations transport meals and other essentials to families in need through its pro bono logistics programme, Amazon Local Good.

Amazon partners with Comic Relief and is the official home of the charity’s iconic Red Nose. Together with its employees, customers, and partners, Amazon has raised over £4.8 million to fund projects that support people across the UK, and around the world.
