Pubs that the locals can be proud of

Topper the mascot has been playing a leading role in McManus Pub Company’s efforts to give people local pubs they can be proud of.

McManus Pub Company has a diverse selection of pubs throughout the county, from The Phipps in Northampton town centre, to The Swan at Lamport in the county’s beautiful countryside, or the Brampton Halt, a family favourite and popular with large parties, particularly outside on a warm summer’s day.

Each of the pubs in the group has its own identity, and the McManus Pub Company introduced Topper to tie it all together – appearing as he does on the pub’s signs and branding, but in a way that lets the individual venue’s personality shine through.

Daniella Murray, Events & Sales Manager, said: “Our destination pubs are all different, but we wanted to create a seamless link between them while remembering our mission – to be the pubs people feel proud to call their local.

“Working with creative agency The Opportunity Co, we adopted Topper as our mascot, and he now features on pub signs and branding and we have really enjoyed the positive feedback.”

Anyone wanting to meet Topper will find no better day than Father’s Day – the perfect excuse to get everyone around the table and treat dad to a proper lunch. In fact, the Brampton Halt will be firing up its barbecue across the entire week, building up to some good vibes over the weekend of June 21. The Wig & Pen in Northampton will also be having live music sessions to mark dad’s special day.

And dads can learn a few new skills as well when the Brampton Halt stages its first Pints & Plaits event where parents that want to better understand how to style their children’s hair can go along for a bit of breakfast with a hairdresser who will show them how to style kids hair.

Sporting action takes centre stage at Barratts Club in Northampton on June 19 with a Royal Ascot Race Day from 12.30pm onwards. Designed for client hosting and team celebrations, tickets include lunch and wine, live coverage of the race meeting with a chance to place bets and entertainment throughout the day.

Daniella said: “We are very much about the communities our pubs serve, and we want people to feel at home and welcome when they visit us. And we’re proud of what this county has to offer, which is why we’re going to be part of Northamptonshire Food & Drink Week, celebrating fantastic local produce, regional ingredients and the very best of Northamptonshire.

“Topper is a welcome addition to the McManus team, and we look forward to introducing him to customers all across the county for good times, good energy and good food and drink.”
