It’s the sport that’s taking the nation by storm and All Things Business is inviting teams from businesses and organisations – whether proficient or padel novices – to come along and have an afternoon of fun, fast-paced competition.
Staged at Padel Social House on Friday, September 18 from 1pm to 4pm, the All Th ing Business Padel Cup promises to be a competitive yet social event. Team entry, for two players, is £50 plus VAT.
The new Padel Social House, in Salthouse Road, Brackmills, is the UK’s third-largest padel centre. With 12 courts – 11 doubles courts and one for singles – the venue has positioned itself at the centre of the growth of the sport.
At the September event, every team is guaranteed three matches, giving players plenty of court time and a chance to compete against a variety of opponents. There are also prizes up for grabs, with £100 in Playtomic vouchers for each player in both the winning and runners-up pairs. Playtomic is the app used to arrange and book matches, join social sessions and connect with others of similar ability levels.
Padel Social House was opened earlier this year by Edward Dowdall, who believes the accessibility factor is what sets padel apart – the fact that anyone, of any ability, can pick up the rules pretty quickly and then try it for themselves.
While tennis can be technically demanding for beginners, padel has a much lower barrier to entry. The scoring system mirrors tennis, making it familiar to many players, but the enclosed court and ‘forgiving’ style of play allow rallies to develop quickly. Even people with little or no racket sport experience often find they can begin to enjoy a game within minutes.
