One of the UK’s leading flag and flagpole suppliers is entering a new era of growth after securing a six-figure loan from Allica Bank following a change in ownership.
Founded in 1998, South East-based The Flag Consultancy Ltd supplies, installs and maintains flags and flagpoles for events, ceremonies and some of the most recognisable spaces across the UK, including Number 10 Downing St. The business has most recently worked on major national events, including Qatar Goodwood Festival, as well as supplying flags for television productions such as Netflix’s The Diplomat and Doctor Who and music artists including AJ Tracey at Glastonbury 2025.
The business was recently acquired by new Managing Director Andrew Nagberi, with funding from Allica Bank helping to support the transition and future growth plans, such as expanding into new markets, including exhibitions and international conferences, while continuing to deliver the specialist service it has become known for.
“Most people picture working with flags as someone simply clipping a flag to a flagpole and walking away,” said Andrew. “In reality, there is far more involved than that.”
The company’s work ranges from inspecting and maintaining flagpoles at embassies and public buildings to laundering and replacing flags for hotels, venues and film sets across the country. For many organisations, flags are far more than decorative features – they represent national identity, professionalism and public image.
Ensuring flags are safely installed, properly maintained and presented to the highest standard is a critical behind-the-scenes service. Annual flagpole safety inspections are also required, similar to an MOT for a car, forming another key part of the business.

With the support of Allica’s funding, The Flag Consultancy is now looking to expand its reach into new sectors while building on its specialist expertise. Plans include increasing its presence at exhibitions and international conferences, while exploring opportunities for its specialist workforce to support other industries.
At the same time, the business remains focused on maintaining the hands-on service it has become known for among clients across London and the South East.
“One of the biggest challenges in our industry is the weather,” Andrew said. “As you can imagine, flags and storms do not go well together, so watching the forecast and planning around it is a huge part of what we do.
“But none of this would be possible without the dedication of our team. Turning up for work at 4am in dark, wet and windy conditions requires a level of commitment that deserves real recognition.”
Andrew said the support from Allica Bank played a key role during the ownership transition.
“The whole process of taking over the business was made so smooth thanks to Allica’s funding, and having someone we could actually talk to made a huge difference,” he said.
“Growth for us is not about chasing volume for the sake of it. It is about building long-term relationships with the right clients and continuing to deliver the high level of service we are known for.”
Craig Smith, Relationship Manager at Allica Bank, said: “The Flag Consultancy is a fantastic example of a long-established specialist business with real expertise and ambition for the future.
“It has been a privilege to support Andrew and the team during this next chapter, and to help provide the funding they need to invest in growth while continuing to deliver an essential service to clients across the UK.”
The transaction was completed with support from CN Strategic Advisors on corporate finance, Slater Heelis on legals and Auxilium Advisory on sourcing funds.
