Bed Kingdom appoints AIT Home Delivery as two-person delivery partner

An online furniture retailer listed in the Sunday Times Top 100 Fast-Growing Businesses has appointed AIT Home Delivery – a wholly-owned subsidiary of AIT Worldwide Logistics – as a two-person delivery partner as it enters its next phase of growth.

Specialising in children’s beds, Bed Kingdom has more recently expanded its offering to include sofas and other large furniture items and was looking for a carrier which offered an affordable solution for large and outsized deliveries.

Also listed in The Yorkshire Fastest 50 – highlighting the 50 fastest-growing companies in Yorkshire – Bed Kingdom approached AIT Home Delivery having previously worked with the company in its former guise of Panther Logistics.

Part of Flair Group, Bed Kingdom offers thousands of own-brand items for nationwide, next-day delivery.

Items are sold on various marketplaces as well as through its dropship wholesale business.

Samuel Scott, AIT’s Sales Director UK and Europe said: “We had previously enjoyed an excellent working relationship with Bed Kingdom in the days of Panther Logistics and are delighted to be working with the company again.”

A trial period earlier this year was hailed a success, with Levon Hall – Chief Operating Officer of Bed Kingdom – saying the company was thrilled with the efficiency of AIT Home Delivery’s service.

The company takes advantage of AIT Home Delivery’s suite of services including next day, nominated day, delivery to room of choice and removal of packaging.

It has also just launched a weekend delivery service with AIT Home Delivery which also handles returns.

Talking about the final mile experience Levon Hall said: “In our industry the customer will blame a retailer for delivery issues, rather than any carrier. Our carrier partners represent us in each delivery and indeed may be the only face-to-face contact with our customers. Therefore our choice of carrier is extremely important.”

Bed Kingdom customers are able to receive their orders on a next-day basis or select their preferred date of delivery.

The retailer’s automated system generates orders to be picked and sends to AIT Home Delivery for daily collections.

Samuel Scott added: “Both AIT Home Delivery and Bed Kingdom have come so far since our paths last crossed and both have exciting times ahead. We look forward to working alongside the team again in the next leg of the company’s journey.”
