In 2021, Boxx Communications Ltd evaluated its sustainability efforts, thinking about its impact on the planet as individuals and as a business, and decided it needed to do more. Boxx Communications Ltd is committing to going green this year, making changes internally and externally to achieve one of its biggest sustainability goals, carbon neutrality.
In December 2021, Boxx Communications started working with Treedom, an Italian platform which allows anyone to plant trees across the globe. There is a range of benefits to planting trees through a platform like Treedom, including mitigating climate change, regenerating degraded areas, providing habitats for native species, creating sustainable jobs for rural communities and so much more. Boxx Communications Ltd has already gifted around 50 cacao trees in Columbia. Each tree will remove 55kg of carbon as it grows to full maturity and contributes to the local economy as its seeds will be harvested and sold in the community. To continue to contribute to its growing forest, Boxx Communications Ltd will be planting one tree for every leased line sold, hoping to plant 2,000 trees to complete the forest.
What is a leased line?
In a very simple sense, a leased line is like renting a private lane on a motorway for you to get to work. If motorways were internet lines, this would be a private highway with a speed limit you decide going both ways. More accurately, a leased line is a dedicated, fixed-bandwidth data connection. It allows companies to have a reliable, high-quality internet and guarantees upload and download speeds.
Leased is not to be confused with financial services products such as a car lease or a lease for office equipment. Leased in the context of leased line refers to internet service providers (ISPs) directly renting availability of their network to companies like Boxx Communications Ltd, who in turn provide customers services beyond-standard broadband. Some of the advantages of a leased line include improved reliability, higher available speed and faster repair time if an unexpected situation occurs.
Who are leased lines for?
A business may be drawn to leased lines purely for the benefit of speed – having superfast internet access in an era of increased cloud service usage makes a lot of sense. However, speed is simply one of the elements that make dedicated connections such an important part of a business’s infrastructure. The usage of VoIP for business telephone and communication is more reliable when the connection is symmetrical. A fixed connection’s service level agreements also mean that any failure is usually rectified within hours, not days or weeks. For firms that rely heavily on data in their day-to-day operations, this is a must-have.
Optimising productivity
CityFibre has been investing in building a full-fibre network right across Milton Keynes and its services are now available to thousands of businesses and residential properties. Further investment is extending its reach and will see further 7,000 homes added to the initial £40m project.
The chances are that you can already access CityFibre services and as a City Champion Partner for the company in the town, Boxx Communications can help customers decide which kind of connection is right for them – and for those key employees who are continuing to work from home most of the time. In addition, Boxx Communications can provide VoIP services, consultancy, installation and ongoing support to ensure customers can optimise the productivity of their teams, wherever they are working.
