March marks the twentieth anniversary of Milton Keynes-based MSP, Bluecube Technology Solutions.
Founded in 2003 by CEO James Hawker, the IT solutions and cyber security provider had humble beginnings. From a small high street building in Newport Pagnell to its current offices in Central Milton Keynes, London, Ireland and the US, employing close to 200 people, Bluecube has gone from strength to strength.
The business has a rich history of growth. When James initially incorporated Bluecube in the early 2000s, the world of IT was a very different landscape and still, in some ways, an industry in its infancy. By 2009, with around 17 employees, James was awarded Entrepreneur of the Year, this was followed by an expansion to offices in Wolverton Mill.
As the world of technology continued to evolve over the following years, Bluecube evolved with it. In 2014 Bluecube launched Lighthouse, a bespoke service desk tool that transformed Bluecube’s operations, helping to secure its first major clients. At this stage, the company had grown to 40 employees, but the organisation’s culture and environment stayed constant; people-focused, fun, and unapologetically human in a technological world – these values would later shape their rebrand.
In 2020, the need for technology and remote services and the development of a new cyber incident recovery service caused Bluecube’s business to boom, and this unprecedented demand pushed Bluecube to take another step in its journey. By the end of 2022, the organisation had experienced a record 45% growth, had expanded offices to Central Milton Keynes, rolled out a rebrand and launched their apprenticeship scheme, Bluecube Academy.
An integral part of Bluecube’s success has been the support of its clients, many of whom have been with the company for a large part of their journey. Supporting many charities and sectors has been central to its ethos: to make lives easier.
As Bluecube’s anniversary approaches on March 25, CEO, James Hawker said: “The completion of our twentieth year is a milestone significant enough to take a step back for a moment and reflect on what we have built and the impact that we have. I am proud to say that it is without a doubt, a team effort and I am very lucky to have a
great team.“It’s the impact that we have had, on a human level, that resonates with me the most. We have provided employment to many hundreds of people over the years and have genuinely helped hundreds of organisations; tens of thousands of people rely on us every day. We have also donated over £2m to charity over the years. These are the real aspects of our success that I value the most and the ones that we will drive forward in the years to come.”
