Providing a solution for organisations that need a helping hand

Helping others is at the heart of Facilities Management Solutions (FMS) – whether that’s looking after some of the region’s most impressive commercial properties or raising money for some of the area’s most deserving charities.

The company, founded in 2021 by Carl Yeomanson as the sister company to Plumbing & Gas Solutions, supports a huge variety of commercial properties in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire with their building management needs.

The dedicated FMS team is available 24/7 for clients, putting an emphasis on strong communication and excellent working relationships through one single point of contact, leading to a smooth process from the first approach through to the completion of the project.

Having built a reputation for its client-first mentality, delivering stress-free solutions and an excellent customer experience, FMS has grown quickly in its first four years, and the team has made it their mission to give back to the city in other ways, too.

Having supported a plethora of charities, including the YMCA, Food Bank and Ride High, and other local organisations – namely MK Theatre, MKFM, the MK Breakers and Windmill Children’s Centres – through fundraising, partnerships and sponsorship, the firm recently launched an exciting new initiative that spreads its ethos of supporting Milton Keynes even wider: FMS Community.

Bike Ride - FMS

FMS Community will provide a network where like-minded community-driven organisations in the city can come together and have access to a wide variety of benefits from FMS, including advice and support with building management, networking opportunities, and the active promotion, participation and support for their causes and events.

This year, Carl Yeomanson was awarded the MK Mayor’s Community Champion, celebrating his dedication to supporting the city and its many fantastic causes, through the combined efforts of himself, FMS and PGS.

Carl said:

“At Facilities Management Solutions, we are very passionate about giving back to our local community. As our business grows, so does our impact on Milton Keynes, whether we are supporting local charities or sponsoring local events, it’s important for us to be involved and do whatever we can to help.

“Through FMS Community we want to not only continue our work with charities and local organisations, but also to widen the scope of what we do, with more ways to provide support beyond just donating and fundraising. Naturally, we’ll continue to do things like the charity virtual bike ride we completed for Harry’s Rainbow or Matt’s double marathon for YMCA, but we think we have so much more to offer.

“So, if we can help an organisation in another way, by putting our knowledge and expertise in building management to use, or using our business network to find them the help they need, for instance, we can reach more people and provide even more support.”

Recent charity events included the virtual bike ride for Harry’s Rainbow as part of the Franklins Solicitors £50 Challenge, when the team took it in turns on an exercise bike to cover 150 miles – the equivalent distance from the firm’s offices in Wymbush to Camber Sands, where the children’s bereavement charity has a Rainbow Retreat. FMS has also taken part in the Ride High Charity Bike Ride, hosted the first of its litter picks, and took part in last year’s CEO Sleepout Milton Keynes to raise awareness about homelessness.

The FMS Litter Picks, launched earlier this year, then evolved into a Courtyard Cleanup in collaboration with the Milton Keynes University Hospital Trust to clean up some areas around the hospital.

FMS has also recently announced that it has joined Milton Keynes Community Foundation as a Business Member to support the organisation’s Cost of Living Appeal. This year’s appeal is centred around ‘Invisible Poverty’, highlighting the fact that not all poverty is obvious and that anyone, from a colleague at work to a neighbour or relative, could well be struggling but is too ashamed to ask for help.

Carl said:

“When the MKCF team shared this year’s theme, we thought it was very powerful, and it was our absolute pleasure to play even a small part in supporting those in Milton Keynes affected by poverty. It’s now our aim to raise awareness and get other organisations involved and supporting the great work they do across our city.”

As part of its services to commercial clients, FMS provides general property management solutions including roofing projects; drainage; electrical services; HVAC services; asbestos services; day-to-day building management as well as emergency response, plus anything else your commercial site may require.

FMS

Engineers and specialists based in and around Milton Keynes are on hand around the clock and the key benefits of the FMS service include:

  • One single point of contact
  • A reliable and reactive service
  • A complete, stress-free solution
  • Full project management
  • No retainer fees or hidden costs

Operations Director Dan Cole said:

“We save organisations precious time and money by delivering to them the most appropriate solution to meet their requirements. For them, having one point of contact just means all their building management headaches go away and they can leave us to handle everything on their behalf, from annual maintenance contracts through to emergency response, or specialist, one-off projects.

“And we’ve always combined our building management support with community initiatives, like sponsoring the Milton Keynes Education Awards, and supporting local sports teams, from MK Dons and MK Breakers through to grass roots sports clubs, all while also calling upon our business network to get involved with our favourite causes as well, to help us help others.

“So, it made sense to extend our reach and bring our services to those that might not be in the business community but that could use our services to keep their charities, groups, clubs or events running smoothly. Our approach is that if we can help, then we will. We’re always up to something and this way, we think more people will benefit.”
