Spend a fun afternoon creating a brighter future

Something special is on the menu at a fundraising event in Woburn that promises fun, networking, a fascinating speaker and a delicious afternoon tea. The children’s bereavement charity Harry’s Rainbow is inviting guests from across the Milton Keynes area to its Brighter Tomorrow High Tea at Frosts Garden Centre at Woburn Sands on Thursday, September 26.

Mandy Legg, who was Mayoress of Milton Keynes last year, will be the guest speaker, and there will be an opportunity to network and meet other guests at the event, which costs £40 per person.

It’s the first event organised by Alison Johnson, pictured, who has recently joined Harry’s Rainbow as Fundraising and Events Manager – and is likely to be the start of a whole range of awareness and fundraising ideas to help the charity continue to help children in and around Milton Keynes who have lost a loved one.

Alison said:

“I feel so grateful to have this role and I’m excited to get things under way and help raise the profile of Harry’s Rainbow. We’re starting with the Frosts Garden Centre event, which is open to anyone and which we hope will be an opportunity to introduce the charity to more people while they enjoy a relaxing afternoon listening to our guest speaker, doing a bit of networking and have some fun.”

“We’ve got some amazing raffle prizes including a bottle of whiskey that appeared on the set of both Dead Pool and Wolverine, and also some items from fashion brand Scamp and Dude.”

Following on from the Brighter Tomorrow High Tea, Alison is looking to expand the range of fundraising ventures that Harry’s Rainbow organises or gets involved in. There will be a bigger focus on Children’s Grief Awareness Week in November, where it is hoped schools and local businesses will wear bright colours for the day and make a donation to support the charity.

Alison said:

“We have so many ideas for how we can really push forward. It might start slowly this year, but we want to build on our fundraising and awareness efforts, around things like Children’s Grief Awareness Week, and teaming up with bigger organisations to stage events, and really build on the incredible work the charity has already done.”

Odette Mould MBE, who founded the charity in memory of her son, Harry, said:

“I’m so happy to have Alison on board to help with fundraising efforts. People will be seeing her and meeting her at all kinds of events in Milton Keynes over the next few months, and we hope they will start by joining us for afternoon tea at Frosts in September, which promises to be a fantastic afternoon for everyone.”
