Excellent relationships with energy suppliers put Apertus Group in the ideal position to help a pub group not only manage their bills but to negotiate a solution that literally made the difference to whether or not the business was able to open the doors on its latest venture on time.
Greedy Gordons Pub Group, which has four pubs across Northamptonshire, had, through miscommunication with their energy supplier, ended up on a pre-payment arrangement that was taking its toll financially.
Apertus Group has a proven track record in saving customers money, using their knowledge of the market and relationship suppliers to get the best deals available, bespoke to each client’s individual needs.
Jon Newsham, Head of Energy Services at Apertus Group, managed not only to resolve the situation but released his client from a significant credit deposit, reducing the stress on the business owners and allowing them to focus on the opening of their Grafton Underwood pub, The Pig & Waffle.
“We spent a lot of time with the supplier to finalise negotiations,” said Jon. “A significant credit deposit was due, and we negotiated that that didn’t need to be paid, and we’ll manage the account over the next few months and make sure they are doing what they need to do and maybe get some new contracts in place once they’re up for renewal.”
Energy bills can be difficult to fathom at the best of times and sitting on the phone trying to get through to a supplier’s call centre a waste of someone’s valuable time. An experienced energy consultant will not only be able to quickly grasp the figures and advise whether it’s normal or worth pursuing, they’re also more like to get through to suppliers based on well-established relationships and get an answer quickly and efficiently. Jon said:
“Clients are busy running their businesses and they have more important things to be doing than dealing with energy suppliers making life more difficult than it needs to be. We used the relationships we’ve worked hard to build with suppliers to talk to them and get this issue resolved.”
Richard Gordon, owner of Greedy Gordons Pub Group, said that before Apertus Group got involved, they were left dealing with a stressful situation that was completely out of their control.
“We had some really poor treatment from a national energy supplier,” said Richard. “Apertus stepped in and got it resolved. Without their help it was a really serious situation and they saved the business, they literally got the doors of one of our businesses open.
“The fact is, they have made nothing out of doing this for us, they didn’t have to do it, but what I do know is that all of our future business will be with them. We will be using them in future, they are friendly and professional people, they didn’t have to help but they did, and I really can’t thank them enough.”
Jon Newsham added:
“The message is clear, we are here not just to find the right contracts and tariffs, but when an issue arises, we are there to resolve it on our clients’ behalf.
“We are proud that after this, we are now going to be looking after things for Greedy Gordons; two local businesses working together being able to support each other – we help them get the energy deal that is right for them and in turn they are helping us grow as a business.”
