A Northampton businessman has thrown a lifeline to any workers who have found themselves without jobs as the result of former rugby giant Wasps going into administration.
Alex Goldsmith, CEO of occupational health provider Medigold Health in Queensbridge, is a lifelong supporter of Wasps, a club for which both his father and grandfather played. Keen to offer support to the 167 people at the club who have lost their jobs, Alex turned to social media to highlight a number of vacancies within his company which may provide a vital and timely opportunity for some of them.
Alex said:
“The ultimate decline of the once mighty Wasps fills me with huge sadness and a sense of regret. This great club, played for and supported by both my grandfather and father, Dr Michael Goldsmith, deserved much better than the fate that has befallen it.“A club of such history and standing should never have found themselves in this position, despite the difficult decisions that I am sure they have been faced with over the past few years.
“My father and I stand together with the Wasps community at this awful time and, if we can help in any way, we would like to extend our support to both the club and their people. We feel hugely for the 167 people who find themselves without a job.“We have a number of current vacancies at Medigold Health that may be of interest to some of them and we would welcome any of them onto our team if we can. Or they can simply reach out to us and tell us their skill(s) and we will see if we can find a role for them.”
