Wellingborough School is celebrating an outstanding set of A Level results, with 40% of grades currently at A*-A and 69% at A*-B, alongside a 100% pass rate.
The results represent the second-highest proportion of A*-A grades in the School’s history, with the current figure just below the School’s record on the day of the results, set in 2023.
The School is also celebrating an excellent value-added score, reflecting the significant progress made by all pupils during their Sixth Form studies.
Simon Hawkes, Headmaster of Wellingborough School said:
“These are the best A Level results we’ve had in a decade, and I couldn’t be more pleased for this year group. They’ve worked incredibly hard, but they’ve also made the most of everything that Sixth Form has to offer, and that really shows in these results.
“What I’m most pleased about is that these results aren’t just about the top grades. They reflect a huge amount of progress across the year group and a lot of determination from our students. They should be incredibly proud of themselves. We certainly are.”
Exceptional individual achievements
There have been some outstanding individual performances across the year group. More than a quarter of the year group achieved grades of A or above in every A Level they took.
Sulaiman, Thomas, Anish and Dalitso achieved a clean sweep of A* grades across their A Levels, whilst Nathan and William successfully met the requirements of their offers to study at the University of Oxford, securing their places at one of the world’s leading universities.
The School is also celebrating a particularly strong year for aspiring medics, with all five students holding medicine offers meeting the required grades. Congratulations go to Sulaiman, Ashleigh, Anish, Obinna, and Ayanna.
There have also been some exceptional examples of academic progress. Many of our pupils achieved grades higher than expected in their subjects which is a fantastic achievement for all.
Strong university destinations
The results have also translated into excellent university outcomes with over 90% of Wellingborough School students have securing a place at their choice of university.
Wellingborough School will be waving goodbye to this year group as they see them move on to universities such as Oxford, Durham, Southampton, Exeter, Kings College London, Newcastle, York, Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, and plenty more across the country.
The School is proud to see its students progressing to the next stage of their education with the confidence, and independence they have developed during their time at Wellingborough.
