Future looks bright for a team structure that really works

Success is there to be built upon, and another record year of growth at Midshires Electrical and Lighting in Northampton is testament to the way the company has restructured itself to ensure it continues to flourish.

Directors Craig Rose, Jamie Faulkner and Sarah Cameron have been at the helm of the Crow Lane Industrial Estate firm over the past few years and during that time have developed a team behind them to support a strategy that is aimed at seeing the company continue to expand.

Midshires Electrical and Lighting, founded in 2003 by Ben Fountain, is an independent electrical wholesaler specialising in providing high-quality electrical products and lighting supplies, working closely with the corporate, housing and construction sectors and acting as a trusted partner to advise on the best products on the market.

The company has a trade counter at its Hartburn Close headquarters, where customers can call in to pick up what they need, and there’s an app through which most clients manage their orders and accounts, including the real-time tracking of orders.

Operations Director Craig Rose said: “We’ve enjoyed excellent growth over the past three or four years and have just posted another set of record figures. Since Jamie, Sarah and I came together as directors we’ve made sure that we have a new generation coming up behind us and we believe that is the route to further success.

“The more a business grows, the more you need that structure to feed into what the directors are aiming to do, and we feel we’ve got that now. We’re building a team that will be crucial to supporting further growth, including our Warehouse Manager and team, and our internal sales team. We’ve already got a loyal customer base and there are massive opportunities to develop new partnerships in this sector, and we need to push on and take advantage of that.”

A bright future for Midshires Electrical and Lighting

The renewables sector is an important one for Midshires Electrical and Lighting. Sustainability is now as high on the agenda in the electrical and lighting sector as cost, with customers having to meet the demands of official targets and regulations as well as the environmental commitments of their own businesses and throughout their supply chains.

Midshires Electrical and Lighting has always put the emphasis on quality over price and is in a prime position to guide developers and contractors through the challenges of delivering energy efficiency that meets modern-day needs while providing quality products at the best possible price.

There’s also an emphasis on putting something back into the community that the firm serves, including supporting good causes, local sports teams and charities wherever it can.

Craig added: “We host regular customer days where we showcase products and have a bit of fun at the same time; and we partner with Northampton Saints and the county’s cricket club, as well as sponsoring grassroots sports teams.

“For a long time now, we’ve made a monthly donation to a charity nominated by a member of staff, and we raise money for the Electrical Industries Charity that supports those who’ve worked in the industry, and their families, in times of need.

“As a company, we’re very proud of the success we have achieved and way the business community supports us, so we have always been keen to put something back.”
